HIS LIVE RECORDING was made during one of our choir rehearsals. It’s an English translation by Robert Campbell of Skerrington (d. 1868), who converted to the Catholic Faith somewhat late in his life. The hymn for the Transfiguration is: Quicumque Christum Quaeritis. The melody we sing is Number 745 from the Brébeuf hymnal. It is a “shared melody”—which we have spoken about in the past.
Pew Edition: The Pew Edition of The Saint Jean de Brébeuf Hymnal provides tons of information about the Catholic hymns, and this example is no exception. Brébeuf even provides a literal translation of the Latin version, as well as interesting information about Prudentius.
