Back at the beginning of this month, the Vatican announced seven new invocations to the Litany of St Joseph. While dozens of Catholic websites announced this and named the new titles of St Joseph, very few actually explained where these new titles would fit in the Litany – a fairly important consideration if you’re actually praying the litany.
So, here is the actual announcement. This is a Letter from the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments to the Presidents of the Bishop’s Conferences, so not directly from Pope Francis. It gives the new invocations in Latin, without accents. It also links to the expanded Litany of St Joseph, which shows where the new invocations fit and gives accent marks. Fr Zuhlsdorf questions the placement of the accented syllable in fulcimen, and I tend to agree with him, so I’ve gone with fulcímen in my edition.
Happy chanting!
