Even though liturgical law did not allow it, some parishes in the 19th century accompanied the Pater Noster on the organ during Mass. I have a book published in America circa 1940—four decades after the “Motu Proprio” of Pope Pius X—which provides accompaniment for the Lord’s Prayer in Latin. (I think many of us would be surprised to hear music used at certain parishes during the 19th century and early 20th century—but that’s another story for another day!)
