RECENTLY released an article about the important Sequence for Easter: Víctimæ Pascháli Laudes. I mentioned that many poets have tried to “capture” this text in English, but none has achieved tremendous success (for a variety of reasons). One of the best translations is a “free” metrical translation by Leeson (“Christ The Lord Is Ris’n Today”):
