This was filmed when I still worked at Corpus Christi Cathedral. The green 1970s carpet was still in the Sanctuary. Later on, Fr. Lopez would have the carpet removed, revealing the beautiful marble underneath—a fantastic improvement. That carpet never should have been added to the Sanctuary, but there was a movement in the 1970s to make Sanctuaries resemble one’s living room. Sometimes they even installed curtains (like a Church in Lawrence, KS).
