OPE FRANCIS opened the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica on Tuesday to begin the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Here are two old videos of the Opening of the Holy Door. The first one was taken in 1950, before the Vatican II. Pope Pius XII opened the Holy Door to inaugurate the Holy Year.
And the second one was taken when Pope Paul VI opened the Holy Door in 1975, after the Vatican II. Notice that he almost got hit in the head by the cement falling off the door as it was being opened.
